When completed, the Shanghai Tower will be the highest skyscraper in China, at 632m. Designed by San Francisco-firm Gensler, the tower plans on accommodating offices, a luxury hotel, nine foyer sky gardens and various retail and cultural venues, as well as a new Shanghai Metro stop. Enclosed with the inner layer of the double-skin facade, the Tower is comprised of nine cylindrical buildings heaped one on the other. While the building cover or the second skin is finished with a triangular exterior layer that swivels as it gets higher.
