1. AAA Discount

Yes, always ask for one – but better yet, if you walk into a hotel without a reservation, or if you call one up, don’t tell them that you have AAA until AFTER they quote you a price. Sometimes, hotels try to be sneaky and quote you a AAA price when it’s actually the regular price.

2. Check out Convention and Visitor’s Bureaus

Make good use of city’s Convention and Visitor’s Bureaus! For example, orlando'office has what’s called a “Black Book” which has cut-rate offers phone in by local hotels which are desperate to book their hotel for the night.This will save you a lot of money – money you can then spend on places like Disney World!

3. Are phone calls really free?

Always ask if phone calls and breakfasts are included for *free*. Never assume it is. Mid-range hotels usually include stuff like that for free, but more expensive hotels will often charge you for it.

4. Web-only rate for the win!

Always, always check the hotel’s “web-only” rate. It’s usually cheaper than what you’ll get by simply calling the property directly. I also find that, nowadays, most hotel’s online website are very competitive, if not cheaper than, the sites like Hotels.com because those site tend to charge fees.

To enter or past your e-mail text click on the "Mail Message bar. If you want to send the same mail to multiple receipents you might want to use the MASS MAIL function of the software where you can select html templates to make your e-mails look more stylish.

A rapidly growing travel industry, riding on the back of ever cheaper flights and increased spending power is producing a dilemma for hotel businesses - how to build more properties without causing damage to the environment? BookHotels.com Domain Sells for 50,000 EUR

Sedo cooled down a bit this week after a few weeks of blockbuster sales. But its sales are nothing to sneeze at. The top sale this week was BookHotels.com. The buyer, who paid 50,000 EUR for the domain, is using privacy protection to block whois for now.

Coming in second place at $25,000 is GermProof.com, a domain that should come in handy as cold and flu season rolls in. The domain was bought by Amazon Thunder, which sells Acai berry products. The domain forwards to its AmazonThunder.com web site.

In another interesting sale, Alaska.tel sold for $1,050.

The new Las Vegas Montreux will be a $1.9 billion, 2,750 room hotel and casino complex based on a Swiss theme. To me, a Swiss theme means mountains, but there aren’t any planned for the Montreux, and looking at it, I’m not entirely sure where the Swiss influences are!

Naturally, I’ve saved the best until last. If you’re blown away by the billions being spent on the hotels I’ve just mentioned (and remember, these hotels and casinos are all currently under construction – they’re not just a designer’s pipe-dream), wait until you hear about Project CityCenter.

Situated on the site of the old Boardwalk, opposite the Planet Hollywood hotel (the old Aladdin), CityCenter will contain over 7,000 hotel rooms across 5 separate buildings, the largest of which, the 4,000 room CityCenter resort and casino, will tower some 60 stories high. It will also offer a 165,000 square foot casino, a 70,000 square-foot spa, 2,000 seat theatre, and, yes, some shopping.

The Future of Vegas

So now that the housing market has crashed and real estate is down, what will become of the Vegas Strip. I mean, who will spend $5 billion for a mega-hotel that might not be sold out ever?
I think we will start to see a lot more futuristic hotels like the Planet Hollywood Towers by westgate. I mean, just look at it:

In order to provide longer touristic stays in Earth orbit, concepts for space hotels have been investigated world-wide. In Japan, several designs for large-scale space hotels were analysed in the context of industrial studies like the Shimizu space hotel illustrated in fig. 13 [MATSUMOTO97]. It has a total mass of 8000 tons and offers all amenities and entertainment opportunities, one can expect from such a giant hotel complex. It is difficult to imagine from a current standpoint, that this giant hotel complex can be financed, built up and constructed in the near future. However, this sophisticated hotel concept might represent the second generation of space hotels maybe in the second half of the 21st century.

BURJ DUBAI is a supertall skyscraper under construction in the Business Bay district of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and is the tallest man-made structure ever built, despite being incomplete. Construction began on September 21, 2004 and is expected to be completed and ready for occupancy in September 2009.
The building is part of the 2 km2 (0.8 sq mi) development called "Downtown Dubai", at the "First Interchange" (aka "Defence Roundabout") along Sheikh Zayed Road at Doha Street. The tower's architect is Adrian Smith who worked with Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM) until 2006.The architecture and engineering firm SOM is in charge of the project. The primary builders are Samsung Engineering & Construction and Besix along with Arabtec. Turner Construction Company was chosen as the construction manager.

The total budget for the Burj Dubai project is about US$4.1 billion and for the entire new 'Downtown Dubai', US$20 billion.[10] Mohamed Ali Alabbar, the CEO of Emaar Properties, speaking at the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat 8th World Congress, said that the price of office space at Burj Dubai had reached $4,000 per sq ft (over $43,000 per sq m) and that the Armani Residences, also in Burj Dubai, were selling for $3,500 per sq ft (over $37,500 per sq m)

World's Highest Hotel in Shangai

Want to stay in one of the world's tallest buildings? Soon, you can.

The Park Hyatt Shanghai is scheduled to open this Fall and boasts of 174 rooms. It is 492 meters and 101 storeys tall. The new hotel will be one of the tallest buildings in the world, and is designed by New-York based designer Tony Chi.

The hotel is located from the 79th to 93rd floors of the Shangai World Financial Center, otherwise known as "The Vertical Complex City". Situated in the heart of the Lujiazui business district in Pudong. The hotel will be the highest hotel in the world.

The hotel "RIU Helios" in Sunny Beach received the prestigious award "TUI Holly 2008", Moreto.net announces.

The award was presented to Latchezar Todorov - the executive director of "Tera Tour Service" EOOD, at a sumptuous ceremony in Berlin for the 40^th anniversary of the tour operator TUI.

The best hotels are being chosen by the tourists, clients of the tour operator, through a survey.

15 000 vacation complexes from all over the world were included in the survey. Over half a million guests have expressed their opinions.

The situated on the first line of Sunny beach hotel is participating in the survey for the first time.

The award is proof for the professionalism of the management of hotel "RUI Helios", but also for the quality of the tourist service in Bulgaria as a whole, specialists from the industry claim.

Fancying the idea of a flying hotel, the designer Jean Marie Massaud conjured up the future options for travel, the Manned Cloud! Bagging the award by the Design Observer2008 , the Manned Cloud is actually a flying hotel that will enable its commuters to indulge and experience spectacular and exotic places without being intrusive or exploitative. The whale-shaped airship, developed by Massaud Studio in affiliation with French national aerospace research body ONERA, will be able to accommodate 40 guests and have a range of 5,000 km. Two two-deck cabin will contain amenities including a restaurant, a library, a fitness suite and a spa. Travelers can also take a sun bath on a sun deck on top of the double helium-filled envelopes. It is estimated that the travelers can enjoy a non-stop round the world in 3 days, while staying in any of its 60 rooms as the Manned Cloud will have a cruising speed of 130 km/h and a top speed of 170 km/h.
